they hire their calculation engineers with muzzo
how do you hire a calculation engineer through a recruitment agency?

A good calculation engineer defends their calculation report, not just their software. Muzzo gives your role, from junior calculation engineer to head of design office, to the headhunters who place this job: they test how a profile reads a simulation result. Fee of 5 to 30%, paid on hire. Leaves within 3 months: we restart the search free.
how it works
you only pay if you hire

02
our data chooses the headhunters
Our AI picks those who have hired the most calculation engineers, from more than 2,500 selected headhunters.

03
you meet the best profiles
Approached and qualified by headhunters who are design office experts. You choose who you meet.

04
you hire, then you pay
Not before. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost.

let's talk about your role
Antoine and the Muzzo team help you scope your role and choose the right headhunters. Describe your role in the form: we'll call you back to discuss it.

one last question?
With Muzzo, you set the fee, between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire: no deposit, no fixed fees. A junior calculation engineer building models under supervision and a head of design office who signs off on the calculation report don't take the same search. The fee follows that difficulty, and the Muzzo team helps you set it.
You have a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, for example because the real speciality doesn't match the brief, we restart the search at no cost. If we find no replacement within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fees. On average, 94% of Muzzo hires are still in post after 3 months.

the reality
a calculation engineer is judged by a result that holds up, not by software on a CV
a good calculation engineer defends their result, not their tool
Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys: everyone lists them. Few can explain in one sentence why a simulation result is reliable. A design office headhunter makes the difference at interview.
the same title covers four jobs
Structural calculation in aerospace, automotive crash, mechanical resistance in energy, rail dynamics: the tools look alike, but the standards and safety margins change completely depending on the sector.
a hiring mistake surfaces late
A wrong calculation often passes the first reviews before being caught in testing, or even in service. The headhunter checks the projects actually calculated and validated before introducing anyone.
the roles
the calculation engineer profiles our headhunters go after for you
From a first role to head of design office, each search goes to a headhunter who has already hired that profile.
junior calculation engineer
They build finite element models, run the simulations and format the results under the supervision of an experienced calculation engineer. Often a first role after engineering school.
structural calculation engineer
They size a part or an assembly, check its mechanical strength and write the calculation report that goes with the technical file.
numerical simulation engineer
They model a full behaviour, vibration, thermal or fluid, before any physical test. A role that demands choosing the right modelling assumption, not just running a calculation.
crash and safety calculation engineer
In automotive, they simulate an impact and check that a structure protects its occupants. Safety margins are set by regulation, not negotiable.
CFD calculation engineer (fluid mechanics)
They simulate a flow of air, water or gas: aerodynamics, cooling, ventilation. A field apart within calculation, with its own software.
head of calculation or head of design office
They lead a team of calculation engineers, arbitrate modelling assumptions and own the final validation in front of the client or certification body.
the method
a calculation and simulation headhunter, not an agency that does everything
Calculation is judged by what it validates. So the method starts from what the role has to demonstrate.
we define what the role has to demonstrate
Mechanical strength, vibration behaviour, crash resistance, cooling: the brief describes the phenomenon to model and the certification level expected.
a headhunter who places calculation engineers
From more than 2,500 selected headhunters, your role goes to those who place the most people in design office calculation, in your sector.
a calculation report checked with references
The headhunter asks the profile for a project they really calculated, the method chosen and how the result was validated, then cross-checks that version with a former manager.

hiring a calculation engineer: what you need to know

The calculation engineer turns a drawing or a geometry into proof that the part will hold. It is a modelling job: choosing the right assumptions, picking the right mesh, reading a result without taking it at face value. Many CVs list the same software without the understanding of the physical phenomenon following.
A design office headhunter makes that difference: they ask the profile to walk through a calculation they ran to completion, the assumptions kept and what got corrected after a test or a review. You meet calculation engineers who can defend a result, not just produce one.

Structural calculation checks that a part withstands the loads it bears. CFD calculation simulates a flow, of air or of fluid. Crash calculation assesses an impact and occupant protection. Each speciality has its own software, standards and vocabulary: a good structural calculation engineer does not improvise a CFD calculation.
State the speciality in the brief, with the software used in-house and the certification level targeted. An aerospace calculation engineer who knows the airworthiness standards is not hired the same way as an automotive calculation engineer who knows crash-test standards.

In aerospace, calculation must meet airworthiness requirements and strict safety margins, with long validation cycles. In automotive, the pace is faster and crash calculation holds a central place. In energy, calculation focuses on an equipment's durability, sometimes in an extreme environment. In rail, fatigue and rolling-stock dynamics dominate.
A calculation engineer who proved themselves in one sector often needs time to adapt to another sector's standards. The headhunter starts from the role's real sector, not just the title 'calculation engineer'.

The CV lists software: Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, Catia. The interview has to show something else, the ability to explain a modelling assumption and its limits to someone who did not run the calculation.
A real case works well: a simulation result, a question about its safety margin, and ten minutes to discuss its validity. The headhunter does this first screen before introducing anyone, and checks with references the calculation projects actually validated.

A junior calculation engineer runs models that are already framed, under supervision. An experienced calculation engineer chooses their own assumptions and puts their signature on the calculation report. A head of design office arbitrates between several calculation engineers and owns the final validation.
This level choice shapes the search far more than the sector does. Fix it before talking salary: a junior learning the software and a head of office who signs off on the calculation report are not hired in the same place.
your questions about hiring a calculation engineer
According to Apec, calculation and numerical simulation managers in automotive, aerospace and other transport equipment earn a median of €56k gross a year, with 80% between €43k and €75k (2025 edition). In industry outside transport, the median is €48k, between €42k and €64k.
Yes. According to GIFAS, the French aerospace industry completed 21,300 hires in 2025, of which 51% engineers and managers, and plans 20,000 for 2026, across all engineering jobs combined.
Structural calculation checks the mechanical strength of a part or an assembly. CFD calculation simulates a fluid flow: aerodynamics, cooling, ventilation. Both use different software and are hired separately, except in a small team where one engineer covers both.
The headhunter asks for a project really carried through to completion: the geometry, the assumptions kept, and what got corrected after a test or a design review. They cross-check that version with references before introducing the profile.
Yes. These sectors require fatigue and durability calculations, sometimes in extreme environments, different from the reflexes of an automotive or aerospace calculation engineer. We choose the headhunter based on your role's real sector.
