they hire their estate agents with muzzo
how do you hire an estate agent through a recruitment agency?
A good estate agent brings in mandates before anyone asks. Muzzo gives your role to the headhunters who place the most agents: they verify the mandates brought in, the sales closed and the candidate's authorisation. Fee of 5 to 30%, paid on hire. Leaves within 3 months: we restart the search free.

one last question?
With Muzzo, you set the fee between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire: no deposit, no fixed costs. A junior agent learning the ropes and a senior managing a full territory don't take the same search. The fee reflects that difficulty, and the Muzzo team helps you set it.
You get a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, for example because the territory assigned doesn't produce enough mandates, we restart the search at no cost. If we find no replacement within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fee. On average, 94% of Muzzo hires are still in post after 3 months.

the reality
an estate agent is judged by the mandates they bring, not by their photo
a good estate agent doesn't answer job ads
They have their clients, their active mandates and their commissions coming in. A real estate headhunter knows how to approach them and make them see the point.
bringing in mandates and closing viewings are not the same job
Some agents excel at generating business, others at turning a viewing into an offer. The headhunter identifies which one your role really needs.
a hiring mistake shows up in an empty portfolio
An agent picked wrong brings nothing in and costs a full quarter. The headhunter verifies the mandates and sales actually signed before introducing anyone.
the roles
the estate agent profiles our headhunters go after for you
From a first role to agents managing a full territory, each search goes to a headhunter who has already hired that profile.
junior estate agent
They learn to source mandates, value properties and run viewings under the guidance of a senior agent or branch manager.
estate agent (transaction)
They bring their own mandates, value properties and lead sales to completion. The most requested role.
independent commercial agent
They work under a brokerage mandate or network, with no employment link, earning commission only on completed sales.
senior agent or key account manager
They manage an entire territory, mentor new agents and hold the largest mandate portfolio in the office.
new-build property advisor
They sell off-plan units for a developer with a different sales cycle: fewer viewings, more admin and finance follow-up.
the method
a real estate transaction headhunter, not an agency that does everything
An estate agent is judged by mandates brought and sales closed. So the method starts from what the role needs to produce.
we define the territory and mandate target
Geography, property types, mandates per month: the brief describes the ground reality of the role, not just the title.

mandates and sales verified before interview
The headhunter asks the candidate how many mandates they brought in and sales they closed in the past year, then cross-checks with references.

hiring an estate agent: what you need to know
why use a headhunter to hire an estate agent?
The estate agent lives by their mandates: they find them, value the property, run the viewing and lead to completion. Good agents are in post, managing their own territory and don't answer job ads.
A transaction headhunter knows how to approach them and asks the right questions: which geography, how many mandates brought in, what conversion rate from viewing to sale. You meet agents with verified numbers, not just talk.

employed estate agent or independent commercial agent: which to hire?
Two statuses coexist. The employed agent works under contract, often with a low base and commission on sales. The independent commercial agent has no employment link: commission only, and can sometimes work for multiple firms.
The choice depends on your structure: the employee costs more in fixed overheads but stays available, the independent costs nothing until they sell but has more freedom. Make this choice clear in the brief before discussing pay.

does a real estate agent need a professional card?
The agent doesn't need their own card. But French law says that professionals handling mandates must be authorised by the card holder, whether employed or independent. According to CCI Paris Ile-de-France, regulation covers "employees or independent parties authorised by the professional card holder to negotiate, act as intermediary or engage on their behalf".
This authorisation brings the same ongoing training obligation as for the card holder: 14 hours a year or 42 over 3 consecutive years, including at least 2 hours on ethics and 2 on fair access to housing. Our headhunters check that the profile can be authorised quickly by your agency.
how do you assess an estate agent at interview?
The CV lists sales, sometimes flattering. The interview must dig into method: how they source mandates (phone, door-to-door, referral), how they value realistically, how they chase a hesitant seller.
Ask a real case: a difficult mandate to land or a tough negotiation, and how they closed it. The headhunter does this first filter and checks with references the mandates and sales claimed before introducing anyone.
high street agency or independent network: what changes?
In a high street agency, the agent relies on the brand's local reputation, incoming calls and a branch manager guiding the team. In an independent network, the agent is often self-employed: they build their own reputation and prospecting alone, with lighter support.
The profile to search changes with the model: independence and risk appetite for a network, discipline and teamwork for an office. Make this context clear in the brief; it matters more to the fit than the job title.
your questions about hiring an estate agent
Yes. According to France Travail's 2026 BMO survey, 59.7% of the 9,790 planned recruitment projects for employees and intermediate real estate roles, the category covering the transaction agent, are rated difficult by employers - one of the highest rates in sales.
No, not personally. According to CCI Paris Ile-de-France, an agent, whether employed or self-employed, must be authorised by their agency's professional card holder to negotiate and engage on their behalf, then follow the same training obligation.
The employee has a low base and is available to the office daily. The independent is commission-only and more flexible, sometimes working for several firms. The choice depends on your structure: make it clear in the brief before discussing pay.
No. According to the 2026 BMO survey, only 4.2% of recruitment projects in this category are rated seasonal - much lower than hospitality or retail. Agencies hire year-round as activity allows.
