how do you hire a frontend developer through a recruitment agency?

A good frontend developer brings the interface to life, not just the mock-up. Muzzo gives your role to the headhunters who hire the most frontend developers: they check delivered code, performance and accessibility, not a list of frameworks. Fee of 5 to 30%, paid on hire. Leaves within 3 months: we restart the search free.

how it works

you only pay if you hire

  1. 01

    you describe the role

Using the form above: the role, your company, your framework. The rest is scoped in your first conversation with the Muzzo team.

  2. 02

    our data chooses the headhunters

Our AI picks those who have hired the most frontend developers on your framework, from more than 2,500 selected headhunters.

  3. 03

    you meet the best profiles

Approached and qualified by headhunters who are frontend experts. You choose who you meet.

  4. 04

    you hire, then you pay

Not before. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost.

one last question?

With Muzzo, you set the fee, between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire: no deposit, no fixed fees. A junior frontend developer and a lead frontend developer on a rare framework don't take the same search. The fee follows that scarcity, and the Muzzo team helps you set it.

You have a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, for example because the framework or level of independence wasn't what was planned, we restart the search at no cost. If we find no replacement within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fees. On average, 94% of Muzzo hires are still in post after 3 months.

the reality

a frontend developer is judged by the screen your customers use

01

frontend is the only code your customers see

A slow backend fails quietly. A slow or broken interface shows up immediately, and spreads even faster on social media.

02

React, Vue, Angular: three different searches

A React developer and an Angular developer don't come from the same communities. The headhunter starts from your framework, not from the word 'frontend'.

03

a good frontend developer doesn't answer job ads

They are approached every week, often for generic roles. They answer a headhunter who knows their stack and the design system they've already built.

the roles

the frontend developer profiles our headhunters go after for you

From a start-up's first frontend developer to a scale-up's lead frontend developer, each role goes to a headhunter who knows your framework.

  1. junior frontend developer

They integrate mock-ups and code their first components, guided by a team already in place. A first role after a degree or a training course.

  2. React frontend developer

The framework most requested by our clients. We check the components actually delivered, not just the mention on a CV.

  3. Vue or Angular frontend developer

Less common than React, these frameworks have their own communities. The headhunter searches there specifically, rather than converting a React profile.

  4. senior frontend developer

They own complex interfaces alone, optimise performance and lay the foundations of a design system. A rare, highly sought-after profile.

  5. lead frontend developer

They set the interface rules for a whole team and still code a good part of the time. For this level, see also our lead developer page.

  6. founding frontend engineer

The first frontend developer at a start-up, often alone facing the whole product. For this very specific profile, see our founding engineer page.

  7. integrator turned frontend developer

Some profiles come from web integration and have gradually learned JavaScript and a framework. A path our headhunters know how to spot and assess.

the method

a frontend headhunter, not a generalist developer recruiter

A React developer and an Angular developer are not hired from the same networks. So the method starts from your framework, not from a generic title.

01

we define the framework and level you need

React, Vue or Angular, an existing design system or one to build, performance and accessibility requirements: the brief describes the interface to build, not just 'a frontend developer'.

02

a headhunter who hires frontend developers

From more than 2,500 selected headhunters, your role goes to those who hire the most on your framework.

03

delivered code checked, not a list of keywords

The headhunter asks for an interface actually shipped to production: its performance constraints, its accessibility choices, components reused elsewhere.

hiring a frontend developer: what you need to know

why use a dedicated frontend headhunter, not a generalist developer recruiter?

Frontend is the only part of the product your customers see and judge directly. A frontend developer must combine code discipline, an eye for visual detail and real attention to perceived performance: a screen that takes two seconds too long to load costs you customers.

A generalist recruitment agency often treats frontend as a variant of development. A dedicated headhunter can tell a frontend developer who assembles components apart from one who designs an entire design system, and hires accordingly.

why use a dedicated frontend headhunter, not a generalist developer recruiter?

frontend developer, full stack, lead frontend: what's the difference?

A frontend developer focuses on the interface: components, application state, calls to an existing API. A full stack developer builds the interface and the server, often in a small team that cannot yet split the two roles. A lead frontend developer sets the interface rules for a whole team and still codes a good part of the time.

State in the brief which one you're after: a pure frontend profile may not want, or have the experience, to touch the server, and vice versa. For a growing team, see also our full stack developer and lead developer pages.

frontend developer, full stack, lead frontend: what's the difference?

React, Vue or Angular: should you hire for a specific framework?

A good frontend developer switches framework more easily than they change level of responsibility, but the search moves faster on the technology actually used in your code. The React, Vue and Angular communities only partly overlap.

If your product is older and the stack needs to evolve, say so in the brief: some profiles are specifically looking for a migration project to run, and that's an argument that attracts experienced profiles.

how do you assess a frontend developer at interview?

A portfolio or a GitHub profile shows code, rarely the real constraints: an unfinished design, legacy code not to break, performance to hold on mobile. The headhunter asks for an interface actually shipped and checks with references what happened after it went live.

Accessibility matters more and more in this assessment. Since 28 June 2025, the European directive (EU) 2019/882 requires accessibility for many consumer-facing sites and apps. A frontend developer who knows RGAA, the French digital accessibility standard, avoids costly fixes later on.

which frontend developer should you hire at your company's stage?

For a first product, a versatile frontend developer builds the interface with little tooling and a lot of independence, sometimes as a founding frontend engineer if the whole tech team is one or two people.

Once the product is in place, profiles specialise: a senior frontend developer optimises performance and builds a design system, a lead frontend developer manages several developers and becomes the product's main point of contact. The headhunter starts from that stage to target the right level.

your questions about hiring a frontend developer

There is no Apec job family specific to frontend: the closest benchmark, IT development, shows a median of €52k gross a year for ages 35 to 45 (80% between €41k and €74k), and 34% of managers in this family receive variable pay, with a median of €3,000 (2025 edition).

A good frontend developer switches framework faster than they change level. But the search moves faster on the technology actually used in your code: state it in the brief, and the headhunter will target the right profiles from there.

If the role only needs to build and maintain the interface, a frontend developer is enough. If the same person must also touch the API or the database, for example in a small team, see our full stack developer page.

The headhunter asks for an interface actually shipped to production: its performance constraints, the accessibility choices made, components reused by other teams. They cross-check these points with references before introducing anyone.

Yes. For a management role, see our lead developer page. For the first developer at a very young start-up, often alone across the whole product, see our founding engineer page.
