how do you hire a Site Reliability Engineer through a recruitment agency?

An SRE is judged by the reliability they hold over time: SLOs met, on-call managed, post-mortems that truly fix the cause. Muzzo gives your role to the headhunters who hire the most in production reliability. Fee of 5 to 30%, paid on hire. Leaves within 3 months: we restart the search free.

how it works

you only pay if you hire

  1. 01

    you describe the role

Using the form above: the role, your company, your traffic level. The rest is scoped in your first conversation with the Muzzo team.

  2. 02

    our data chooses the headhunters

Our AI picks those who have hired the most SREs, from more than 2,500 selected headhunters.

  3. 03

    you meet the best profiles

Approached and qualified by headhunters who specialise in production reliability. You choose who you meet.

  4. 04

    you hire, then you pay

Not before. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost.

one last question?

With Muzzo, you set the fee, between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire: no deposit, no fixed fees. A junior SRE joining an on-call team already in place and a lead SRE setting SLOs on a high-traffic platform don't take the same search. The fee follows that difficulty, and the Muzzo team helps you set it.

You have a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, for example because the real on-call doesn't match the brief, we restart the search at no cost. If we find no replacement within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fees. On average, 94% of Muzzo hires are still in post after 3 months.

the reality

a Site Reliability Engineer is judged by the incident that doesn't happen again

01

a good SRE is on-call, not job hunting

They watch SLOs, take part in an on-call rotation and have no reason to answer a generic ad. A production reliability headhunter knows when and how to reach them.

02

automating a deployment doesn't guarantee reliability

The role means setting service objectives, measuring them and defending them against product teams who want to move faster. The headhunter tests that conversation, not just the tooling.

03

a hiring mistake shows up at the next major incident

SLOs never met, on-call going wrong, post-mortem that changes nothing next time. The headhunter checks the incidents they actually resolved and post-mortems they wrote before introducing anyone.

the roles

the production reliability profiles our headhunters go after for you

From a first SRE role to the team managing on-call for a high-traffic platform, each search goes to a headhunter who has already hired that profile.

  1. Site Reliability Engineer

They set SLOs, watch observability and take part in on-call for a production platform. The most requested role.

  2. senior SRE

They run post-mortems on major incidents and evolve the architecture so the same outage doesn't happen again.

  3. observability-focused SRE

They build the dashboards, alerts and traces that let you spot an incident before it gets worse.

  4. lead SRE

They manage the on-call team, set SLOs with product teams and become the go-to for the CTO.

  5. SRE at a high-traffic SaaS publisher

They guarantee the uptime of a platform used continuously, where every incident minute has a direct cost.

the method

a production reliability headhunter, not an infrastructure generalist

An SRE is judged by what doesn't break again. So the method starts from what the platform must hold.

01

we define the real SLOs and on-call of the role

Traffic level, availability targets, on-call frequency and spread: the brief describes what the role must truly hold, not a generic job spec.

02

a headhunter who hires SREs

From more than 2,500 selected headhunters, your role goes to those who hire the most in production reliability.

03

a major incident and post-mortem verified before the interview

The headhunter asks the profile to walk through a major incident they handled: how they spotted it, how they fixed it, what the post-mortem changed next. Then they cross-check with references.

hiring a Site Reliability Engineer: what you need to know

why use a headhunter to hire a Site Reliability Engineer?

The SRE turns a platform's uptime into a measurable objective: they set SLOs, build the observability that catches a problem before users do, and hold on-call when the incident hits anyway. Good profiles are in post, held up by production, and don't answer job ads.

A production reliability headhunter knows how to reach them and ask the right questions: what traffic, what SLOs, what real on-call. This page covers the SRE role itself; for all infrastructure, cloud and security trades, see our infrastructure, cloud and security page.

why use a headhunter to hire a Site Reliability Engineer?

SRE or DevOps engineer: what changes for hiring?

A DevOps engineer builds the deployment pipelines and cloud tooling that let you release fast. An SRE starts from the opposite goal: keep the service reliable once it's in production, measure that reliability with SLOs, and hold on-call when it breaks. In a small team, one person often wears both hats.

Decide in the brief whether the role must mostly speed up deployments or mostly guarantee uptime: the headhunter will target a different profile based on the answer.

SRE or DevOps engineer: what changes for hiring?

how do you assess a Site Reliability Engineer at interview?

The CV lists monitoring and orchestration tools. The interview must show something else: the ability to diagnose an incident under pressure and write a post-mortem that actually changes the architecture afterwards.

A short case study works well: a service down, metrics to read, and twenty minutes to diagnose. The headhunter does this first screen before introducing anyone, and checks with references the incidents and SLOs the profile says they held.

should an SRE have on-call or not?

On-call is at the heart of the job when a platform runs round the clock: without it, no one answers an incident outside office hours. Some teams rotate on-call among several profiles to spread the load.

This is negotiated upfront in the brief: a role without on-call attracts a wider pool, but pushes the reliability burden elsewhere in the team. Clarify the real on-call frequency before launching the search.

where to hire a Site Reliability Engineer: which age for which salary?

According to Apec, an SRE from the IT infrastructure and systems family (covering this role) rises mostly with age: 47 k€ median under 35, 55 k€ between 35 and 45, 61 k€ over 45. The gap between Paris (62 k€) and other regions (53 k€) stays more modest.

On volume, France Travail's 2026 BMO survey sites the broad category of heads and managers of production and operation of IT mostly in Paris and Seine-Aval, followed by Lille. It doesn't single out the SRE, but it shows where employer competition is fiercest.

your questions about hiring a Site Reliability Engineer

Apec doesn't publish a range specific to the SRE, but to the IT infrastructure and systems family covering it: the median rises from 47 k€ under 35 to 61 k€ over 45 (2025 edition). Tenure weighs more than location on this role.

According to France Travail's 2026 BMO survey, 40.9% of recruitment projects in the broad category of heads and managers of IT production and operation are judged difficult by employers, against 43.8% across all trades. It doesn't single out the SRE, but it gives a ballpark for this job family.

If the role must mostly set availability targets, measure reliability and hold on-call when a service breaks, it's an SRE. If the role must mostly speed up deployments and manage cloud tooling, it's closer to a DevOps engineer. Many small teams give both roles to one person.

Through a real case rather than their list of monitoring tools. Our headhunters ask the profile to walk through an incident they handled on-call, the post-mortem that followed and what changed in the architecture, then verify that incident with references.
