how it works

you only pay if you hire

  1. 01

    you describe the role

Using the form above: the role, your company, your sector. The rest is scoped in your first conversation with the Muzzo team.

  2. 02

    our data chooses the headhunters

Our AI shortlists those with the most hires in this specialism, from more than 2,500 selected headhunters.

  3. 03

    you meet the best profiles

Approached and technically vetted by headhunters who know engineering. You choose who you meet.

  4. 04

    you hire, then you pay

Not before. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost.

one last question?

You set the fee for each role, between 5 and 30%. You only pay it once the engineer is hired. No fixed fees, no deposit. If you don't hire, you pay nothing. The Muzzo team helps you choose the right amount.

You have a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost. If we don't find a replacement within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fees. On average, 94% of new hires are still in post after 3 months.

Click “get started” and describe your role in two steps. The Muzzo team gets back to you to refine the need. Then the headhunters with the most engineering hires in your specialism get to work. Launching is free, with no exclusivity.

the reality

a good engineer can't be judged on a CV

01

“engineer” means nothing on its own

A machining methods engineer and an embedded electronics engineer have nothing in common. A generalist recruiter mixes them up. A headhunter who knows your field asks the right technical questions from the first call.

02

the best ones are already on a project

A mechanical designer in the middle of a product development isn't looking for a job. You have to approach them directly, with a role and a project that speak to them.

03

dual skills are rare

An engineer who designs and talks to clients, a quality manager who also knows the shop floor, an engineer who works in German: these profiles exist, but few people know where to find them.

the roles

the engineers and technicians our headhunters go after for you

From R&D to production, each role goes to a headhunter who has already recruited for that specialism.

  1. head of R&D and R&D project manager

They move new products forward, from idea to prototype, and own the budget and the schedule. We look for someone who has already taken a product to market.

  2. design office engineer and designer

Mechanical, electrical or electronic: they design and calculate what the shop floor will build. The CAD software and the field matter as much as the degree.

    already hired via muzzo

  3. methods engineer and technician

They organise manufacturing: routings, cycle times, tooling, CAM programs. They take a product from prototype to series production.

    already hired via muzzo

  4. electronics and electrical engineer

Circuit boards, variable speed drives, embedded systems: niche specialisms where each headhunter knows the few companies that train the right profiles.

    already hired via muzzo

  5. automation engineer and mechatronics engineer

They program and fine-tune machines and automated lines. They must be as comfortable on the floor as in front of their code.

    already hired via muzzo

  6. quality manager, QHSE and quality technician

They own standards, audits and suppliers. A good quality manager knows the shop floor, not just the procedures.

    already hired via muzzo

  7. project engineer and industrial project manager

They carry a client project end to end: pricing, technical scope, deadlines, margin. A profile at the border between engineering and sales.

    already hired via muzzo

  8. production and industrialisation engineer

They improve yields, launch new lines and solve production issues day to day.

the method

one headhunter per specialism, not one firm for everything

We have tracked every headhunter since November 2020, on three criteria: how many hires they make, the quality of their profiles, their speed.

01

you describe the role

You fill in the form, then we talk it through: the specialism, the tools, the site, the salary. You set the fee, between 5 and 30%.

02

we choose the headhunters

From more than 2,500 selected headhunters, we keep those with the most engineering hires in your specialism.

03

you meet vetted profiles

The headhunters approach engineers and check their technical level before introducing them. You receive a handful of CVs, all of them relevant.

04

you only pay if you hire

Nothing to pay upfront. No fixed fees, no deposit.

hiring an engineer: what you need to know

why use an engineering recruitment agency?

A good R&D, methods or quality engineer is already employed and gets approached regularly. According to Dares, the French labour ministry's statistics office, engineering jobs are among the large occupations still under strong or very strong hiring pressure in 2024. An engineering recruitment agency approaches them directly, with a clear technical project.

The second benefit is technical judgement. The headhunter has to tell a designer who draws parts from an engineer who signs off a whole system. That is why each role goes to a headhunter who has already recruited in that specialism.

why use an engineering recruitment agency?

R&D, methods or quality engineer: which profile to hire?

The R&D engineer designs tomorrow's products. The methods engineer organises manufacturing: routings, cycle times, workstations. The quality engineer enforces standards and handles non-conformities with customers and suppliers. All three work together, but one cannot stand in for another.

In the brief, state the sector (automotive, aerospace, energy, food), the tools (CAD, simulation, ERP) and the standards required. A quality engineer who already knows your industry's framework gets up to speed faster.

R&D, methods or quality engineer: which profile to hire?

hiring engineers in France: degrees and collective agreements

In France, the engineering degree (titre d'ingénieur diplômé) is awarded by schools accredited by the CTI, an independent body given this role by law since 1934. The headhunter checks the degree, but looks above all at what the person has designed, industrialised or improved.

The collective agreement also shapes the offer. Engineering consultancies usually fall under the Syntec agreement (technical design offices, engineering consultancies and consulting firms). Metalworking manufacturers apply the national metalworking agreement, in force since 1 January 2024. The headhunter factors this in when comparing pay.

hiring engineers near your sites

Engineers are hired where the plants and R&D centres are: aerospace around Toulouse, microelectronics in Grenoble, chemicals and mechanical engineering around Lyon and Saint-Étienne, shipbuilding around Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. An engineer settled in one area is reluctant to move.

So the headhunter starts from your site and searches the local labour market first, then profiles willing to relocate for the right project. They check what makes an engineer sign: technical content, autonomy, prospects.

how much does it cost to hire an engineer with Muzzo?

Most agencies charge a percentage of the new hire's gross annual salary, sometimes with a deposit when the search starts. With Muzzo, you set the fee, between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire. No deposit, no fixed fees, and getting started is free, with no exclusivity.

If the new hire leaves within 3 months, we restart the search at no cost. If no replacement is found within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fee. On average, a Muzzo hire is signed in 26 days, from brief to signature.

your questions about hiring engineers

On average, a Muzzo hire takes 26 days, across all roles, over the last 12 months. For an engineer, the timing depends mostly on the specialism and the region of the site. The Muzzo team gives you an estimate from your first conversation.

Yes, that's the whole point. We hand your role to the headhunters who have already recruited in that specialism. They know the tools, the schools and the companies that train the right profiles, and they check the technical level before introducing anyone.

Yes. Methods technicians, quality technicians, draughtspeople, machine setters: these roles go through the same headhunters, who know the shop floor as well as the design office.

Yes. Most engineering roles sit on a production site or an R&D centre, often outside the big cities. We choose the headhunters by specialism and by region.
