they hire their risk managers with muzzo
how do you hire a risk manager through a recruitment agency?

A risk manager maps the company's risks, credit, market, operational or business continuity, and builds the plan that reduces them. Muzzo gives your role to the headhunters who place the most risk managers: they verify risk mappings already carried out. Fee of 5 to 30%, paid on hire. Leaves within 3 months: we restart the search free.

let's talk about your hire
Antoine and the Muzzo team help you scope your role and choose the right headhunters. Describe your role in the form: we'll call you back to discuss it.

one last question?
With Muzzo, you set the fee, between 5 and 30%, and you only pay it on hire: no deposit, no fixed fees. A junior risk analyst and a head of risk managing a team don't take the same search. The fee follows that difficulty, and the Muzzo team helps you set it.
You have a double guarantee. If your new hire leaves within 3 months, for example because the scope didn't match what was planned, we restart the search at no cost. If no replacement is found within 4 months, we refund 50% of the fees. On average, 94% of Muzzo hires are still in post after 3 months.

the reality
a risk manager is judged on their action plan, not their title
risk mapping can't be summed up on a CV
Many profiles cite a risk management methodology without having led a complete mapping, from identification to the reduction plan. The headhunter asks what the candidate has actually delivered.
enterprise risk and financial risk aren't hired the same way
A risk manager at a company tracks insurance and business continuity, a risk manager at a bank tracks credit, market or operational risk under Basel III. The headhunter starts from your exposure, not the job title.
a hiring mistake leaves a risk uncovered
A poorly built continuity plan or a poorly tracked credit risk costs you when it materialises. The headhunter verifies the methodologies, Basel III, ISO 31000 or process mapping, before introducing anyone.
the roles
the risk manager profiles our headhunters go after for you
From the first mapping to running a risk committee, each role goes to a headhunter who has already hired that profile.
risk analyst
They collect data and prepare mappings under the supervision of an experienced risk manager. Often the first role after a business or engineering school.
insurance and business continuity risk manager
They place the company's insurance cover and build the plan that keeps the business running in the event of a major incident.
credit risk manager
They set the exposure limits granted to clients or counterparties and track default exposure, in banking as well as in business.
market risk and ALM manager
They measure exposure to interest rate, currency or liquidity movements and manage the asset-liability matching of a bank or insurer.
operational risk manager
They identify process, system or human failures and build the controls that prevent them.
head of risk (chief risk officer)
They own the risk management policy in front of executive management and the risk committee, often working directly with the regulator.
the method
a headhunter who specialises in risk management, not an agency that does everything
The risk manager title covers different scopes. So the method starts from what the role must cover.
we define the risk scope
Enterprise, credit, market or operational risk: the brief describes the exposures to cover and the reporting expected, not just the title.
a headhunter who places risk managers
From more than 2,500 selected headhunters, your role goes to those who place the most risk managers in your type of risk.
mappings and plans verified
The headhunter asks for examples of mappings carried out and reduction plans implemented, and cross-checks them before introducing anyone.

hiring a risk manager: what you need to know

Risk management covers very different topics depending on the company: insurance and business continuity for an industrial SME, credit or market risk for a bank. A single job title therefore covers very different realities.
A headhunter who specialises in risk management asks the candidate about the mappings they have led and the action plans that came out of them, not just the methodology they know on paper.

The enterprise risk manager places insurance, builds the business continuity plan and maps operational and legal risks. The banking risk manager tracks credit, market or operational risk, often governed by Basel III regulation.
Specify in the brief whether the role needs to deal with an insurer, a credit committee or a banking regulator: the networks and contacts are not the same.

The risk manager maps and reduces a risk before it materialises. The credit manager, meanwhile, manages client exposure already committed and its collection. The compliance officer checks that the company meets its regulatory obligations, a narrower scope than risk management.
These three roles overlap in some organisations, especially smaller ones, where a single person wears all three hats. Specify in the brief if that's your case.

A risk manager's pay largely depends on the scope managed: a role with team management is paid noticeably more than an individual contributor role. Sector matters too, with banking and insurance generally paying more than industry for comparable responsibility.
Specify from the brief whether the role manages a team and reports directly to executive management or the risk committee, to scope the offer from the start rather than revise it after several refusals.

Methodologies vary by sector, ISO 31000 for a general enterprise mapping, Basel III and prudential ratios for a banking risk manager, Solvency II on the insurance side. A candidate who cites the right standard without a concrete example of applying it moves slower than one who has led the process end to end.
The headhunter asks for a real case, the exposure identified, the plan built and the result achieved, to judge practice rather than theory.

Yes, noticeably. According to the AMRAE 2026 barometer, a risk manager in a head-of-function role earns a median base pay of €120k, against €85k for other profiles, a gap worth specifying in the brief if the role is set to evolve towards a management position.

According to AMRAE's 2026 barometer, 94% of risk managers report to the company's executive leadership, for a median base pay of €96k, excluding variable. A sign that this role plays out at executive management level, beyond the banking sector alone.
